Pete Alonso
*This is a prediction*

As the MLB Winter Meetings get underway, Pete Alonso still remains a free agent, and one of the top ones to remain as well. With Alonso still remaining, it leaves the door completely open for new teams to enter the conversation to end up signing him.

There are still numerous top teams around the league, like the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Philadelphia Phillies, that will be making a push to sign him, yet there is another team that makes sense as well to sign Pete Alonso, and that is the Los Angeles Angels.

Los Angeles Angels Sign Pete Alonso in 2026 MLB Free Agency

The Los Angeles Angels have a major 2026 offseason ahead of them. They have Mike Trout on the team still, but need to show him that thy can still be a contending team as Trout is aging and won’t have many seasons left. They also have a new manager, which means their approach to building out the roster could change as well.

The current projected first baseman for the Angels in 2026 is going to be Nolan Schanuel, and while he showed good qualities, he isn’t necessarily a player for Los Angeles to fully rely on. If the Angels want to go fully in on this Mike Trout era while they still can, they need to surround him with the best talent possible, and adding a powerful batter like Pete Alonso would accomplish this.

The Los Angeles Angels had interest in Pete Alonso last offseason before he returned to the New York Mets, now this season, after Alonso had a slash line of .272/.347/.524 with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs, it should make Alonso a prime target once again.

By adding someone with the batting power of Pete Alonso, the Los Angeles Angels would get the ideal player to have in the lineup to provide an offensive impact alongside Trout, something they have been missing. Signing Alonso won’t be cheap, but it is a move necessary for the Angels to show they are going to do whatever they can to improve as a team.
