The Toronto Blue Jays have already made some major moves this offseason, but they are also seen as the favorites for Kyle Tucker, who reportedly visited the team’s facility in Florida last week.

Tucker is projected to sign a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid players in baseball. With the Blue Jays pursuing him, MLB insider Bob Nightengale reported that signing Tucker would spell the end of Bo Bichette’s time in Toronto.

“Tucker, who doesn’t have to be the primary star with Vladimir Guerrero entrenched as the face of the Blue Jays, could be the perfect fit,” wrote Nightengale. “George Springer’s contract expires in a year and starter Kevin Gausman’s salary also comes off the books. If Tucker signs in Toronto, it would all but officially end Bo Bichette’s tenure north of the border, where he could wind up in Boston.”

Like Tucker, Bichette is one of the best free agents available this offseason. He struggled in 2024, but had a bounce-back season this year. He slashed .311/.357/.483 with 18 home runs, looking more like the player who earned two All-Star selections with the Blue Jays.

Before his knee injury on Sept. 6, Bichette was leading all of baseball in hits. He has already led the American League in hits twice in his career and is bound to be paid like one of the better hitters in baseball. Even though the Blue Jays have already shown they are willing to spend big this winter, expecting them to spend on Tucker and Bichette would be unrealistic.
