*This is a prediction*
Following the unexpected collapse the New York Mets went through in the 2025 season, it can be expected that they will be looking to undergo major changes for the upcoming 2026 season.
It is clear that their roster from last year didn’t work, and outside of Juan Soto, they are going to need to reconsider each player on the roster. This even includes Francisco Lindor, who reportedly had a personality clash with Soto behind the scenes. For as talented as Lindor is, it may be best to trade him.
If the Mets open this opportunity up, the Atlanta Braves make sense to trade for him.

New York Mets Trade Francisco Lindor to the Atlanta Braves
The Atlanta Braves have two clear ends this offseason that they must address. One need is to get more offensive production on the team, as with Marcell Ozuna hitting free agency, they are going to need someone who can provide stable production. The second need is to fix the depth at the shortstop position.
A way the Mets can accomplish fixing both needs at once is by trading for Francisco Lindor. Now, this move wouldn’t be easy considering the Mets and Braves are rivals, but the Braves have the talent needed to persuade the Mets and get the deal done.
Francisco Lindor is coming off a 2025 season where he produced a slash line of .267/.346/.466 with 31 home runs and 86 RBIs, showing that even at 32 years old and having played 11 seasons in MLB, he can still be a force offensively. Lindor might not be in the prime of his career anymore, but he would provide the Braves with the stabilizing production they need in their lineup.
With Ha-Seong Kim unlikely to reconsider signing back with the Braves, this leaves their shortstop spot in the field as a major liability. Trading for Francisco Lindor would not only provide them the offensive spark they need, but also be the ideal shortstop solution they need as well. With this, Lindor is the optimal trade candidate that they must make sure to acquire this offseason.
