On Nov. 20, the City of Torrance hosted a Los Angeles Dodgers World Series celebration at the Mary K. Giordano Regional Transit Center. The program included a performance by North High School cheerleaders, pictured above with Mayor George K. Chen (left) and City Councilmember Jon Kaji. Representatives of Torrance’s friendship cities — Oshu, Iwate Prefecture, Shohei Ohtani’s hometown, and Bizen, Okayama Prefecture, Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s hometown — participated via livestream. Speakers expressed hope that the Dodgers will also win next year’s World Series. The first celebration was held last year at the same location.
