Popular baseball publication Baseball America named the Milwaukee Brewers as the 2025 organization of the year, with Pat Murphy winning the outlet’s major-league manager of the year award.

Baseball America’s top honor recognizes the organization for success at the major-league level but also scouting, coaching and player development. The Brewers, who also won the honor in 2018, are the first organization to win the award five times (1985-87 representing the other three times). The plaudit dates to 1982.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves and Tampa Bay Rays are the only organizations to win the award three times. Only the Brewers have won it four times or more.

The San Diego Padres won the award in 2024, with the Texas Rangers taking the prize in 2023. Other recent winners have been Seattle (2022), Tampa Bay (2021 and 2019) and the Dodgers (2020).

“It’s humbling,” said president of baseball operations Matt Arnold in Orlando, Fla., where he and the Brewers contingent officially kicked off Major League Baseball’s winter meetings on Monday.

“Kind of leaves you a little speechless. It’s obviously very flattering to get acknowledged like that. It’s not something we’re looking for, but it’s a really nice thing and it just speaks to the people we have here. We have a great group, and that’s really nice of (Baseball America) for acknowledging us.”

Milwaukee won a franchise-record 97 games in 2025, with the best record in baseball, and reached the National League Championship Series as part of a seventh playoff appearance in eight years. The Brewers have now won three straight NL Central titles.

The Brewers also have the top farm system in baseball according to the midseason rankings produced by Baseball America. Five players appear in the top 100 prospects by BA: infielders Jesús Made (No. 3 overall), Luis Peña (No. 15) and Cooper Pratt (No. 44), catcher Jeferson Quero (No. 66) and starting pitcher Logan Henderson (No. 93).

Craig Counsell won the BA manager of the year award with the Brewers in 2019, and Murphy’s honor marks the second time a Milwaukee skipper has been recognized. Murphy was also named the manager of the year by the Baseball Writers Association of America, marking the second straight year he’s won, and was also named the Sporting News manager of the year.
