Kyle Schwarber is one of the top free agents available this winter. The power hitter has already drawn interest from several teams, including the Boston Red Sox, and one team has already put forth an offer.

The Pittsburgh Pirates offered Schwarber a four-year deal worth “almost certainly” more than $100 million, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported, who added Pittrsburgh remains a long shot to sign the 32-year-old.

Other interested teams include the Red Sox, Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies — who Rosenthal tabs as the most likely landing spot for Schwarber.

Schwarber spent the last four seasons with the Phillies and had a career-best 56 home runs in 2025.

The New York Mets also are interested in trying to sign Schwarber, The New York Post’s Mike Puma reported.

While Schwarber would certainly add offensive pop to any lineup and provide an immediate upgrade, a downside is that he is primarily a designated hitter. That spot is fairly open for the Mets. Starling Marte — who was primarily New York’s DH in 2025 — is a free agent. As is first baseman Pete Alonso.

Schwarber played 41 games for Boston after a trade from the Washington Nationals in 2021. He quickly became a fan favorite on and off the field.

While the Red Sox need a right-handed bat, too, adding Schwarber to the lineup would certainly bring some offense the team was missing in 2025.
