The Los Angeles Dodgers have not shied away from making aggressive moves in the past, and could be looking to take another big swing this winter.

According to KTLA-TV in Los Angeles’ David Pingalore, the Dodgers are “in talks on a potential mega trade for (Detroit Tigers) ace Tarik Skubal.”

“Right now, (Andrew) Friedman is trying to work a deal in a major trade for Tarik Skubal, the best pitcher in baseball,” Pingalore said in a video posted on X. “He’s a free agent after next year. The Tigers want to get rid of him to get as much for him as possible. It certainly looks like he’s going to end up somewhere and the Dodgers would be the odds-on favorite, probably, again. They have the capital and they have the players.”

This report has not been confirmed by any major MLB insiders like Jeff Passan, but the Tigers are reportedly listening to offers on their ace. His next contract could be north of $350 million, and the Tigers do not seem equipped to pay that. Skubal has won back-to-back Cy Young Awards and would make the Dodgers borderline unstopable.

Pingalore stressed that nothing is done yet, but there is some momentum. Another thing worth noting is that there are plenty of smoke screens that emerge from the winter meetings. The Dodgers’ interest in Skubal could be a ploy to generate better offers for the Tigers.

As the winter meetings continue, trade talk around Skubal is sure to grow. However, it will take a massive package to get him out of Detroit.
