The Los Angeles Dodgers once again ruled the MLB world for the 2025 season. The Dodgers won their second straight World Series this season, and the play of Shohei Ohtani was a big reason for that.

If you follow the game of baseball at all, you would know that Ohtani is basically the greatest player to ever step on a baseball field.

That’s why it was no surprise to see the Dodgers’ star earn his third straight Most Valuable Player award, with four in total during his eight-year career.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Ohtani will be adding another major award to his collection for 2025. The Dodgers star has been selected as The Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year.

“Ohtani received 29 of 47 votes in balloting among sports journalists from the AP and its members after his two-way dominance culminated in a repeat World Series title for his Los Angeles Dodgers, delivering perhaps the greatest single-game individual performance in sports history along the way. He previously won the award in 2024, his first season with the Dodgers, and in 2023 and 2021, when he was with the Los Angeles Angels,” writes Beth Harris of The Associated Press.

Once again, it’s hard to see how anyone else could take this award over Ohtani. In the 2025 season, the Dodgers’ star finished with 55 home runs.

Ohtani also led the National League in eight different categories. It’s probably fair to say that the AP may need to go ahead and carve his award for 2026, too.

Getting Richer

Just when you were hoping that the Dodgers might simmer off this winter, they go out and get even better. The signing of closer Edwin Diaz means the franchise is looking for a three-peat.

Oh, how the rich get richer.
