NEW YORK — While Bruce Bochy maintains that Corey Seager is doing “very well” in his recovery from a pesky hamstring strain, the Rangers are also trying to take steps to see if there are any more preventative steps to take in the future.
Bochy said Seager, currently on the injured list, had left the team to be “further evaluated by somebody else,” to get a better feel for preventing further hamstring issues. He did not elaborate further.

Seager, who turned 31 in late April, has had four IL stints due to hamstring injuries in his career, three of them since 2023. Seager was technically able to return from his current IL stint on Wednesday, but Bochy said it would be another week or 10 days.

Seager was on the IL from April 23-May 3, returned for a week and went back on it after aggravating the injury only a week later.
“We just want to check everything, check all the boxes off, make sure we don’t rush him and that we are doing everything we can,” Bochy said. “We want to make sure we don’t rush him. We want to get a little further evaluation and see if there is any adjustment we could do on the rehab, the strength and going forward.”
Seager had indicated earlier in the week that he was making good progress from the injury and had started running. But with rain in the forecast in New York and more rain forecast for Chicago over the weekend, Seager wasn’t going to be able to do much on-field work. And Seager doesn’t want to risk having to “manage” a troublesome hamstring.
“It’s going to be right when I come back,” Seager said.
