Braves hat

The MLB Draft Lottery took place tonight, and the Braves had a real opportunity to land a top-four pick with the sixth-highest odds of receiving the No. 1 overall selection. Unfortunately, the balls didn’t bounce their way — Atlanta fell outside the top six and will pick ninth.

Ninth is still the highest the Braves have picked in the draft since 2019, when they selected Shea Langeliers, who later became the centerpiece of the trade that brought Matt Olson to Atlanta. It’s a bit of poor luck, but paired with the 26th overall pick the Braves received thanks to Drake Baldwin winning NL Rookie of the Year, next year’s draft still presents a fantastic opportunity for Atlanta to land a pair of premier prospects and give the farm system a much-needed boost.
