It was announced on Tuesday, that the White Sox have won the 2025 MLB draft lottery. The team entered the draft lottery with the highest odds of winning it, at 27.73 percent.

There are a ton of great prospects that general manager Chris Getz can choose from. However, the most likely candidate is Roch Cholowsky from UCLA.
The young shortstop is currently ranked as MLB Pipeline’s first overall prospect for 2026. Cholowsky is considered by many to be one of the very best college shortstop’s of the last 20 years and can be an instant game changer for the franchise.

This will also be the first time the Sox have selected first in the MLB draft since 1977, where they selected the legendary Harold Baines.
