Last season, the Milwaukee Brewers only hit a total of 166 home runs as a team. The team leader for homers was Christian Yelich with 29. However, Yelich, along with Jackson Chourio, were the only players to hit more than 20 home runs. While fans want the team to sign or trade for another power hitter, this isn’t how Milwaukee typically does business. With players like Christian Yelich, Andrew Vaughn, Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, William Contreras, and Sal Frelick already on the roster, more power could come internally from this team.

One of the biggest criticisms levied at the Milwaukee Brewers in 2025 was their lack of home runs. As a team, they only hit a total of 166 home runs. Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio were the only players on the team who cracked more than 20 longballs. The only teams that homered fewer times than Milwaukee in the National League were the Nationals, Rockies, Marlins, Padres, Cardinals, and Pirates. Out of all those teams, only the Padres played baseball in October.
However, despite the lack of consistent home run power, the Brewers were the best team in baseball in 2025. They won a league-best 97 games and their third straight NL Central title. While they were outhomered by the Cubs, Milwaukee would ultimately outlast Chicago in the NLDS and advance to the NLCS. However, they would be swept by the eventual World Series champion Dodgers, ending what was one of the best seasons in franchise history.
There Is Plenty Of Power In The Current Lineup Embed from Getty Images
Heading into the offseason, the Milwaukee Brewers need to get more consistent home run power. While fans want the team to sign or trade for a home run bat, this isn’t how Milwaukee usually operates. However, this team may not have to make a move for a long-ball threat this offseason. The consistent power that the Brewers and their fans are desperately craving could come from players already on this team.
Players like Christian Yelich, Andrew Vaughn, Jackson Chourio, Brice Turang, William Contreras, and Sal Frelick are all capable of providing more home run power. Christian Yelich led the team with 29 homers last season, and when healthy, he is still capable of being a consistent power threat. After being acquired from the White Sox, Andrew Vaughn hit nine homers in 64 games played with the Brewers. Given how much Vaughn has improved his plate discipline, his home run total could increase in 2026.
Despite missing a month of the season with a hamstring injury, Jackson Chourio hit over 20 home runs for the second consecutive year. Chourio has yet to tap fully into his power. If he can improve his plate discipline, that home run total will increase. Brice Turang refined his approach and saw his homers increase from 13 in the previous two years to 18 last season. With his new unlocked power, Turang’s home run totals will only increase.
William Contreras played the entire season with a finger injury. Contreras, not being fully healthy, was the reason that he hit just 17 home runs last year. However, it was just two seasons ago that he hit 23 homers and was just starting to tap into his power. The two-time all-star is expected to be healthy for spring training. I believe next season he’ll hit many more long balls. Like Turang, Sal Frelick saw his homer total increase from five in the previous two seasons to 12 in 2025. Frelick is entering the prime of his career and potentially has some more power to tap into.
Don’t Be Surprised If The Brewers Tap Into More Power In 2025 Embed from Getty Images
While popular opinion says Milwaukee needs to acquire another big bat, they may not have to. Consistent home run power is something the Brewers can potentially accomplish with the players already on this team. They have power in their lineup between Yelich, Vaughn, Chourio, Turang, Contreras, and Frelick. Both Brice Turang and Sal Frelick tapped into some power last season and could find more in 2026. Given the growth of the lineup last season, don’t be surprised if the Brewers hit more home runs in 2026.
