The Kansas City Royals have been heavily linked to looking for more right-handed batters that they can add to their lineup over the MLB offseason. One name they have been associated with is Harrison Bader. With Bader a free agent, though, there is the chance he doesn’t sign with Kansas City, especially with the market he is generating.
This will leave the Royals with having to pivot and search for an answer in this area elsewhere. How Kansas City can accomplish this is by making a trade, and they have the perfect trade opportunity to acquire Alec Bohm from the Philadelphia Phillies.

As the Philadelphia Phillies look to improve upon a 2025 season in which they had a 96-66 record, they will need to make roster changes if they wish to advance the team further in 2026. They already brought Kyle Schwarber back, and are still looking to re-sign JT Realmuto.
While this is great, they also could start to look to make trades to acquire more talent to start helping them out. It just so happens to be the player that could give them the best talent in return is Alec Bohm.
If this is the route the Phillies take to shuffle some things up in regards to their lineup, then the Kansas City Royals make sense to reach out to Philadelphia to acquire Alec Bohm. In the past, the Royals had interest in acquiring him but weren’t successful.
By trading for Alec Bohm, the Royals would get a much-needed boost to their offense that they desperately need if they are going to start turning things around for the future. Pairing Bohm, who is coming off a 2025 season where he had a .287/.331/.409 slash line with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs, alongside Bobby Witt Jr would create the offensive duo Kansas City needs to build around for their future.
