The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly agreed to a deal with Edwin Díaz, but he may not be the only superstar the team is interested in this offseason.

The Dodgers could use help in the outfield, and Kyle Tucker is available. It will not be easy to land Tucker, as the Toronto Blue Jays are seen as the favorites around the league to land him. The Blue Jays may be willing to commit to Tucker long-term, but The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Katie Woo revealed that the Dodgers may not be willing to do the same. That could hurt their chances to land him on the open market.

“Los Angeles is unlikely to offer Tucker a six- or seven-year deal, according to a person briefed on the team’s plans,” they wrote for The Athletic. “The club, however, would entertain a shorter three-to-four-year deal with a high annual average value, similar to what Alex Bregman landed last spring when he signed a three-year, $120 million contract with the Boston Red Sox.”

If the Blue Jays are truly the favorites to sign Tucker, the Dodgers would seemingly pose the biggest threat. They bring the allure of winning along with money. However, Tucker may not want to sign a shorter deal. He is a four-time All-Star and could look to cash in long-term.

The Dodgers could look internally to fill their outfield need. If they are unwilling to go beyond four years on a deal for Tucker, the Blue Jays’ chances of landing him certainly get better. The Dodgers could rely on Tommy Edman in the outfield more, but Tucker would be far and away the best solution to their outfield problem.
