For the first time ever, Miami traded the Marlins’ baseball diamond for a high-octane tennis court to welcome the world’s top racquet talent at loanDepot Park. World number one Carlos Alcaraz, rising Brazilian phenom João Fonseca, Jessica Pegula, and South Florida’s very own Amanda Anisimova lit up the night with a series of electric singles and mixed-doubles matches in front of a roaring crowd of fans.
Watching courtside were Inter Miami icons, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, the newest Major League Soccer champions after winning in the final game of their decorated careers just a few days ago. Also adding star power on the sidelines were legendary Brazilian soccer player Ronaldo “R9” Nazario, Miami Marlins pitcher Tyler Phillips, plus teammates Xavier Edwards and Griffin Conine.
Miami’s favorite entertainer, DJ Irie also made a guest appearance on the tennis court for a lighthearted rally against Amanda Anisimova to get the crowd going.
Alcaraz and Anisimova claimed their singles victories before pairing off for a spirited mixed-doubles finale that went down to a ten-point tiebreaker. Each point of friendly competition was fueled by the energetic fans under the glow of the stadium lights.
