San Francisco Giants Sign Pete Alonso in MLB Free Agency

The San Francisco Giants need to be active over this MLB offseason if they are going to fully get back on track for the future and find themselves fully contending in the National League once again with the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. They’ve started to make strides with being aggressive, but they need to fully go all-in now.

In each of the last three seasons, they’ve been a below-average offense, that is something they can’t have any longer if they want to get back to finishing a season with a record over .500. There is a clear move they can make in free agency to achieve this and it is to sign Pete Alonso.

By adding a powerful hitter like Pete Alonso to their lineup, their offense would immediately be impacted for the better going forward. Alonso is coming off a 2025 season with the New York Mets where he had a .272/.347/.524 slash line with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs. Over his entire career, Alonso has a career slash line of .253/.341/.516 with 264 home runs and 712 RBIs.

The impact Pete Alonso would make for the Giants’ offense would be evident as he would be able to drive runs in for himself as well as the rest of the Giants’ offense, something they have been lacking. It won’t be easy signing Alonso, but it is a signing the Giants must go all-in on if they want to truly show they are committed to turning things around.
