The Toronto Blue Jays have had success so far this offseason, but there is more work to do.

Toronto has announced the signings of two starting pitchers in Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce. Toronto still needs to add to the offense, and the two most prominent names linked to the organization this offseason have been homegrown star Bo Bichette and four-time All-Star outfielder Kyle Tucker.

On Wednesday, Blue Jays manager John Schneider was a guest on “Foul Territory” and acknowledged that Toronto wants to add a bat and noted that the club would “love” to have Bichette back.

“We’re still looking to add,” Schneider said on Wednesday while joining “Foul Territory.” “We’re still looking to add a bat. We’re talking with Bo. We met with Tucker. We’d love to have Bo back, you know what I mean. I think that what he does for our lineup and our clubhouse is kind of underrated and undervalued when you have a guy like Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who is signed long-term. But I think that is an area that we want to address. Make sure we have another bat there.”

This isn’t the first time that a representative from the Blue Jays organization has made it clear that the club will be in Bichette’s market. Back on Nov. 12, Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said Toronto will be in the mix for Bichette, as transcribed by MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos.

“Great player,” Atkins said, as transcribed by Gallegos. “Bo’s been a significant part of us being in a strong position today and a reason that we’re coming off five solid seasons of baseball and one really, really good year of baseball. He’s had a lot to do with it. I know he’s going to be attractive to the market. We’ll be in his market.”

That remains the case. Now, it’s a matter of getting a deal done.
