Baseball America has released its top 10 prospect list for the Texas Rangers, and to no one’s surprise, Sebastian Walcott is atop the list.
Somewhat surprising is that Caden Scarborough is the #2 guy on the BA list. The 2023 sixth rounder had a breakout year in 2025, putting up a 2.45 ERA in 88 innings between low-A and high-A, and striking out 114 of 343 batters faced against just 21 walks. His performance helped make out for the pitchers taken in the rounds right before and after him — Alejandro Rosario and Izack Tiger — missing all of 2025 due to injury.

Of course, one can argue about the extent to which Scarborough’s ascension in the rankings is due to his helium versus the lack of standout talent elsewhere in the system. Three of the top six players in the rankings are the Rangers’ top three picks in 2025 — Gavin Fein, A.J. Russell and Josh Owens — while the only top 10 guy from what has been so far a disappointing 2024 draft class is 5th rounder Devin Fitz-Gerald.
