The Major League Baseball hot stove got heated up this week with big names like Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso, and Edwin Diaz signing big-money contracts.
In July, the next wave of MLB stars will hope to hear their name called at the 2026 Major League Baseball draft, which will take place on July 12–13, 2026, in Philadelphia. One name that could be called in the first round on July 12th is Egg Harbor Township High School alumn, Cameron Flukey, who is currently pitching at Coastal Carolina.

In his most recent MLB Pipeline MLB mock draft, Jim Callis projects the 2023 EHT graduate will land with the A’s with the eighth overall pick.
âš¾ Scouting Report: Why MLB Scouts Love Flukey
Flukey maintains mid-90s velocity on his heater deep into games and tops out at 98 mph with armside run and carry. His high three-quarters arm slot allows him to stay on top of his upper-70s curveball, which has so much downer break that it can be hard to keep it in the strike zone, and his feel for spin also extends to a solid 82-85 mph slider. His mid-80s changeup lags behind the rest of his repertoire, though its fade makes it tough to hit when he throws it close to the plate.

Flukey Follows in the Footsteps of CAL Draft Picks
If Flukey is in fact selected in the first round, he would join Mainland Regional alumni Chase Petty, who was taken No. 26 by the Minnesota Twins in the 2021 Draft, and Mike Trout, who was picked in the 2009 draft No. 25 overall, as a Cape-Atlantic League player in the opening round of the MLB Draft.
High School Career: Silver Eagle Superstar
At EHT as a senior, Flukey dominated, with 83 strikeouts in 46.2 innings pitched and a 0.45 ERA, allowing just 19 hits all season. During his three varsity seasons for the Silver Eagles, Flukey racked up 159 strikeouts in 93.2 innings with a 1.79 ERA.
He is currently the ninth-rated prospect in the 2026 MLB Draft by MLB.com and the top overall college pitcher.
