New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman recently noted he would be “open-minded” to trading Jazz Chisholm Jr., and he could help bring a controllable slugger to New York.

Ketel Marte’s name is floating around in trade rumors, and many insiders expect him to be dealt. FanSided’s Christopher Kline proposed this deal between the Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks that would swap Chisholm and prospects for Marte:

Yankees receive: 2B Ketel MarteDiamondbacks receive: 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr., RHP Elmer Rodríguez (Yankees No. 3 prospect) and RHP Ben Hess (Yankees’ No. 6 prospect)

The Diamondbacks reportedly want pitching in exchange for Marte, and in this deal, they get at least one year of Chisholm and two quality pitching prospects. Meanwhile, the Yankees take on Marte and his contract. Marte is an upgrade over Chisholm offensively, despite Chisholm posting a 30-30 season this year.

Marte signed a six-year, $116 million extension this year. He has five more years of club control and an $11.5 million player option in 2031. He has won Silver Sluggers in each of the last two seasons and has three career All-Star selections. He has hit 64 home runs in the last two seasons and could thrive at Yankee Stadium.

Chisholm, 27, is much younger than the 32-year-old Marte, so the Diamondbacks could be interested in an extension that makes him their second baseman for years to come. The Diamondbacks are trying to unload Marte as is, so why not agree to a deal that gets pitching and a potential long-term option at second base?
