
On the 11th (10th local time), Orix paid a courtesy visit to University of Georgia pitcher Ishikawa Kenny, who was drafted sixth overall. GM Fukura and others met with Ishikawa at the university. Ishikawa commented, “I’m truly grateful to everyone in Orix The Buffaloes front office for coming all the way from Japan to personally greet me. As a Japanese-American who grew up in Japan, being drafted by a Japanese professional baseball team like Orix is one of the greatest honors of my life.”
Kenny Ishikawa graduated from Meishu Gakuen Hitachi before dropping out of Asia University. He went on to Seattle University and then the University of Georgia. He is a left-handed pitcher and batter with a top speed of 150 km/h, and is expected to be a two-way player.
