Tyler O'Neill

*This is a prediction*

The offense was downright putrid for the Cleveland Guardians in 2025. Despite this, they still finished as the best team in the American Central Division with an 88-74 record and made the MLB playoffs.

Yet, their offensive issues held them back in the playoffs, but it should show the team that if they can get the playmakers necessary to boost the production in 2026, they can make it further.

One way the Cleveland Guardians can look to improve their offense is by making a trade with the Baltimore Orioles for Tyler O’Neill.

Baltimore Orioles Trade Tyler O’Neill to the Cleveland Guardians

The Baltimore Orioles made a move early on in the offseason by trading with the Los Angeles Angels to acquire Taylor Ward. With the addition of Ward, the Orioles’ outfield becomes a bit crowded as they now have eight outfielders on the depth chart.

After a season in which Baltimore finished last in the American League East Division with a 75-87 record, it is clear they are going to have to be aggressive in further fixing the team for the future if they wish to make it back to the playoffs. For this to be accomplished they can look to continue to make trades, and with a crowded outfield, the ideal trade candidate becomes Tyler O’Neill.

If the Guardians can capitalize on this possibility, it would create the ideal trade scenario for them. The biggest drawback would be the health concerns of Tyler O’Neill, as he has had some inconsistencies with staying healthy, which led to him finishing last season with just a slash line of .199/.292/.392 with 22 home runs and 36 RBIs.

Yet in July alone, he ended up having a slash line of .259/.339/.593 with five home runs and 10 RBIs. The potential is there for Tyler O’Neill, and that is what the Guardians can bank on. With O’Neill, he can play both in the outfield or as a designated hitter to help keep him healthy. For the Guardians, if they can keep O’Neill healthy, then his offensive impact is something that can pay off for them in the long run.
