The Toronto Blue Jays aren’t done adding to their pitching staff for next season. After signing Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce to the starting rotation, general manager Ross Atkins turned to the bullpen.
On Friday evening, the Blue Jays reportedly agreed to a three-yerar deal with reliever Tyler Rogers for $37 million.

“Free-agent reliever Tyler Rogers in agreement with Blue Jays on three-year, $37M contract with vesting option, source tells The Athletic. Value with option is $48M,” Ken Rosenthal wrote on X.
With the terms of the agreement released, the vesting option possibly gives the Blue Jays a fourth year of Rogers for $11 million if certain criteria are met over the first three years of the deal. One could infer the criteria is based on the number of innings he pitches for Toronto.
Rogers was one of the most effective relievers in baseball last season for the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants as he recorded a 1.98 ERA over 81 appearances between the two teams. He essentially pitched every other day over the course of last season and continued to be effective time and time again.
Between both teams, his performances were strong that he conceded two-or-more earned runs in 77 1/3 innings pitched. To sign Rogers for an average annual value of $12.33 million per year (not including the vesting option), is a solid piece of business for the Blue Jays.
Rogers will be in the back end of the Blue Jays’ bullpen to help put the game in a prime position for closer Jeff Hoffman.
