The Toronto Blue Jays are bringing a new hurler to town by way of a trade.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon reported on X on Friday that the Blue Jays are acquiring 27-year-old right-handed pitcher Chase Lee from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for a minor leaguer.

“Blue Jays acquiring RHP Chase Lee from Tigers for a minor leaguer, sources tell me and Will Sammon,” Rosenthal wrote on X on Friday.

Lee is an intriguing pickup. The 27-year-old was a rookie in 2025 and had a 4.10 ERA and 36-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 37 1/3 innings pitched in his first taste of big league action.

The righty made 23 appearances with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens and pitched to a 6.47 ERA in 32 innings pitched.

The Athletic’s Mitch Bannon reported that the prospect going back to the Tigers is 24-year-old left-handed pitcher Johan Simon.

“The prospect the Blue Jays are sending back to Detroit for Lee is Johan Simon, per source,” Bannon wrote.

Shortly afterward, the club announced the deal on Friday night.

Simon made 31 appearances in the Blue Jays’ farm system in 2025 and had a 3.42 ERA in 71 innings pitched.
