Pioneer Valley’s Jonah Lopez drove in Ruben Ramirez in the fifth inning for the only run of the game Wednesday. Thus, the Panthers are in a divisional semifinal under veteran coach Cody Smith for the second time in the last three years.
No. 3 Pioneer Valley edged No. 11 Reedley 1-0 at Pioneer Valley in the quarterfinals of the CIF Central Section Division 4 Baseball Playoffs. The Panthers will host No. 7 Wasco Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
Pioneer Valley lost at Kingsburg in the Division 3 finals in 2023.
With the win Wednesday, the Panthers moved to 12-14. Reedley finished with the same record. Wasco is 17-8.Â
The Panthers won despite getting just three hits off Reedley’s Mason Cisneros. The Pirates got just four hits themselves against PV’s Manny Ramirez. Cisneros and Ramirez both pitched complete games.

No. 5 Bakersfield Ridgeview 2, No. 4 Lompoc 0
Ridgeview’s Joel Gutierrez shut down the Braves on a three-hit complete game, and the Wolf Pack (19-11) advanced to the semifinals with an upset win at Lompoc.
Keisyun Allen and Edwin Hidalgo had an RBI apiece for Ridgeview. Jack Jones pitched a seven-hit complete game for the Braves. Lompoc finished 14-13.  Â
