The Milwaukee Brewers didn’t make a splash at the Winter Meetings in Orlando, Fla., but that doesn’t mean the Brewers are just sitting idly by right now.

The Brewers are seriously looking to upgrade their bullpen at the moment. In fact, according to one report, Milwaukee might be willing to put a couple of outfielders on the trading block right now.

According to a report from Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, two names that are being bandied about right now are outfielders Isaac Collins and Blake Perkins.

“The Milwaukee Brewers are looking to trade off their outfield depth, most likely by moving Isaac Collins or Blake Perkins for a reliever with minor-league options remaining,” according to The Athletic’s article.

“Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio likely will be in the corners next season, with Perkins and Garrett Mitchell the leading options in center,” the article indicates. “Brandon Lockridge projects as the fourth outfielder, with the newly signed Akil Baddoo another possibility.”

Last season for the Brew Crew, Collins put together a slash line of .263/.368/.4`11 with nine home runs and 54 RBIs. Collins appeared in 11 games in 2024, his debut season for Milwaukee, but last season appeared in 130 games and had 411 plate appearances.

As for Perkins, his slash line in 2025 was .226/.298/.348 with three home runs and 19 RBIs.

Of course, the Brewers have a big goal in mind: Get back to the MLB postseason in 2025.

Now, what must the Brewers do? Well, shoring up their bullpen is a great idea. Milwaukee is still apparently chatting with other teams around moving starting pitcher Freddy Peralta, as has been noted a number of times at Brewers Roundtable.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy wouldn’t mind having a trustworthy arm that he could call in to pitch in the eighth or ninth innings.

The National League shapes up to be another challenging field with, of course, all NL teams wanting to keep the two-time defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers on the sidelines.

But the Dodgers didn’t sit still at the Winter Meetings, shoring up their own bullpen shortcomings by signing free-agent reliever Edwin Díaz to a three-year, $69 million contract.

The Brewers don’t have that type of money to swing around, so getting a reliever that the club has some control over makes sense.

Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold is a pretty wise person when it comes to making shrewd deals. Don’t be surprised if he’s able to get a reliever that could deliver in the clutch for Murphy and Co. in 2026.
