Francisco Lindor

This is a PREDICTION, not a REPORT.

If the New York Mets were to trade away Francisco Lindor, it would come as a shock to many. Regardless, if the Mets want a fresh start within the infield, the Milwaukee Brewers need to see if they can make a deal work.

To get some context on why this trade idea is even being brought up, here’s what Matt DeWalt of Gaslamp Ball had to say.

“Rumors of a potential trade between the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets have been swirling since the MLB Winter Meetings. Steven Woods from Ben & Woods on 97.3 The Fan”.

Although the original idea was between the Mets and San Diego Padres, it’s hard to believe that other teams wouldn’t come calling if New York is picking up the phone for their shortstop.

Francisco Lindor Trade Proposal to the Milwaukee Brewers

Now, the reason that this deal isn’t as crazy as you may think is because of the Mets’ weak 2025 campaign. With high expectations, the Mets managed to win only 83 games. That’s not to be blamed on Lindor, but it wouldn’t be shocking if the organization saw this and decided they wanted to go in a different direction.

Here’s what a fair deal would likely look like. The Mets should be giving up Carson Benge (21st overall ranked prospect), Lindor, and possibly another prospect.

That’s because in return, they would be getting back Brice Turang. Although Lindor may be slightly better right now, Turang is only 26 years old, and he’s on a significantly better contract

Right now, Lindor is on a 10-year $341,000,000 deal where he’s not going to become a free agent until 2032. Compare that to Turang’s deal, which is significantly better given his age.

One thing to note as well is that Lindor has an interesting no-trade clause. Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors wrote that “The deal also contains a 15-team no-trade clause”.

If Lindor has the choice, though, it’s tough to see why he wouldn’t want to head to Milwaukee given their recent success.

Now, the reason the Mets would be willing to do this is in order to slightly reset their timeline. With Juan Soto being only 27 years old, it’s not as if the Mets need to rush to push all their chips in if they don’t believe in the rest of their roster just yet.

Compare that to the Brewers, who are still getting a very productive player back in the deal and have the potential to land two great starters with Benge. Unlike the Mets, the Brewers are ready to win in the next year or so, as shown by their 97-win season.

Other Francisco Lindor Landing Spots

Another recent landing spot for Lindor that was brought up in a mock trade from Marissa Myers of TWSN is the Atlanta Braves

Myers wrote that, “With Ha-Seong Kim unlikely to reconsider signing back with the Braves, this leaves their shortstop spot in the field as a major liability. Trading for Francisco Lindor would not only provide them the offensive spark they need, but also be the ideal shortstop solution they need as well.”

While all of this is true, it’s tough to see a fair deal working out between the two sides because of the Braves’ current roster. If Benge can live up to the hype, he

Coming off a 76-win season, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense for the Braves to sacrifice their youth in a win-now move.

Francisco Lindor Stats

This past year was a great one when looking at the stats for Lindor. In 2025, Lindor had 5.9 WAR, 31 hoe runs, and a .267 batting average.

When taking everything into account, this may not be the most realistic trade, but if the New York Mets decide to trade away Francisco Lindor, the Milwaukee Brewers should highly consider trying to make a deal like this work.
