A move announced by the organization Friday afternoon, former Alabama Crimson Tide relief pitcher Chase Lee has officially been traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Toronto Blue Jays.

This marks the second time Lee, a sixth-round pick in the 2021 MLB draft, has been traded during his young professional career. The former Alabama reliever was also traded to the Tigers from the Texas Rangers at the 2024 MLB trade deadline, the same team which drafted him.

Lee has been a member of the Tigers organization the past two years, recently making his major league debut with Detroit during the 2025 season. The right-hander made 32 appearances for one of MLB’s top teams as a reliever, owning an 4-1 record with a 4.10 ERA and 36:9 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 37 1/3 innings pitched.

The former Alabama standout now joins a Blue Jays team that fell in Game 7 of the World Series in October, and is expected to be among MLB’s top teams this upcoming season.
