Baseball is right around the corner, and as teams prepare to hit the diamond in a few months, they can begin evaluating preseason prospects from the MLB. Despite a challenging 2025 season, Texas A&M still boasts a top-notch roster filled with major league talent, led by junior outfielder Caden Sorrell.
Caden Sorrell missed the majority of last season due to a hamstring injury followed by a hand injury, limiting him to just under 30 games. However, when he was on the field, he was nearly elite and demonstrated why he earned a Preseason Second Team All-SEC selection.
Through 26 games, he slashed .337/.430/.739, recorded 32 hits, drove in 31 RBI, and launched 12 home runs. That’s impressive production in limited at-bats, and although he never fully found his rhythm, it provides a strong baseline for what we can expect from a veteran, healthy Sorrell.
On Friday, Baseball America released its Top 10 2026 College Outfielders draft prospects. Sorrell ranked No. 5, and there is a strong chance that if he can deliver a full season resembling last year’s numbers, he will be an early-round pick. While it would be bittersweet to see him depart, it would also signify that the Aggies enjoyed a successful season and secured a return to the postseason.
