*PREDICTION*
It has been a long time since the Los Angeles Angels even came close to making the postseason. The last time the Halos reached the playoffs was in 2015, and they didn’t last long, getting swept out in the first round.
The last decade of baseball for the Angels has been filled with disappointment and frustration, especially with the team having multiple generational stars on the roster. Los Angeles still has star Mike Trout on the team, but he isn’t the same level of player that he was even a few years ago.
The Angels haven’t been able to field a solid roster for a long time, and to make matters worse, the farm system is one of the worst in baseball. There isn’t a lot to be hopeful for with this franchise moving forward, but thankfully, all it takes is one or two strong offseasons to shift the narrative around completely.
As the Angels try to round out the roster for 2026, continuing to address the starting pitching has to be a main priority for the club. Los Angeles did add veteran right-hander Alek Manoah to the roster this offseason, but the team needs more help across the board.
If the Angels are ever going to break this long playoff drought, everything will need to start and end with the pitching staff. The Angels haven’t been shy about spending in free agency over the years, so we could see them be active once again.
This franchise has to do something to break the trend that they’ve been in; otherwise, big changes will be coming all over the place. There is a lot of pressure on the front office to right the ship in 2026, but how the Angels operate this offseason remains a massive mystery around the league.

Los Angeles Angels Grab Tony Gonsolin in Free Agency
The Angels aren’t likely to spend top dollar to land pitchers, but they could add a few veterans to help bolster the starting rotation. One option for this team could be right-hander Tony Gonsolin, who spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers this past season.
The veteran is a hard-throwing pitcher who has nasty stuff on the mound, but injuries have taken over his value around the league. Gonsolin has incredible talent, and if he can stay healthy, he could be a steal for a team like the Angels.
Last season, Gonsolin appeared in seven games for Los Angeles before another injury took him out for the year. The hard-throwing righty posted an ERA of 5.00, while striking out 38 batters over 36 innings of work.
Gonsolin made the All-Star team in 2022 with the Dodgers, and the hope would be for him to return to form. If anything, the veteran could look to sign a prove-it type of deal with a team like the Angels, helping to bolster his value around the league.
The Angels would get a pitcher with extremely high upside for a low price, while Gonsolin would likely welcome a return to Southern California. The two sides could then see how the fit was after the year, or the Angels could flip him for additional assets at the trade deadline if he were to ball out completely.
