A decade ago, the Milwaukee Brewers made a trade that would eventually bring them one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball. At the time, it cost first baseman Adam Lind.

On Dec. 9, 2015, the Brewers entered a trade with the Seattle Mariners to send Lind over in exchange for three pitchers, one of which was prospect Freddy Peralta. Recently, Bleacher Report detailed the deal as one of the most lopsided MLB offseason trades of the last 10 years.

“Freddy Peralta was still a teenager who had not yet pitched above rookie ball when the Mariners traded him to the Brewers as part of a three-prospect package to acquire veteran first baseman Adam Lind,” it wrote. “Lind hit .239/.286/.431 for a 94 OPS+ with 20 home runs and 58 RBI in 126 games before departing in free agency the following winter.

“Fast forward to 2018, Peralta made his MLB debut at the age of 21, and by 2021 he was a full-time member of the starting rotation and a first-time All-Star. In the years since, he has developed into one of the game’s top starters, going 17-6 with a 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 204 strikeouts in 176.2 innings in 2025.”

In his lone season with the Brewers, Lind was very productive. The former Silver Slugger Award winner slashed .277/.360/.460 with an .820 OPS. In 149 games, he also had 20 home runs and 87 RBIs.

However, what Peralta has been able to become in his time with Milwaukee has made him one of the league’s best pitchers and a marquee target during offseason trade rumors. After a big 2025, the Brewers picked up Peralta’s $8 million club option, but his future with the team moving forward is uncertain.
