The San Francisco Giants agreed to a two-year, $22 million contract with veteran right-handed pitcher Adrian Houser, ESPN reported Tuesday.
The deal includes a club option for the 2028 season and was reported hours after San Francisco announced a one-year contract for free agent right-hander Jason Foley.
Houser, 32, split 2025 with the Chicago White Sox and Tampa Bay Rays and went a combined 8-5 with a 3.31 ERA in 21 starts.

Before spending 2024 with the New York Mets, Houser appeared in parts of seven seasons for the Milwaukee Brewers. In 173 career games (125 starts) since breaking in during the 2015 season, Houser is 40-44 with a 4.06 ERA and one save. A ground-ball pitcher, Houser has just 576 strikeouts with 282 walks in 733 2/3 career innings.
Foley, 30, last appeared for the Detroit Tigers in 2024 in a closing role, and had 28 saves in 32 opportunities. He did not pitch in 2025 due to shoulder surgery.
He will make $2 million with the San Francisco Giants, ESPN reported.
In four MLB seasons spent entirely with Detroit, Foley has appeared in 210 games out of the bullpen and gone 7-9 with a 3.16 ERA and 35 saves. He’s struck out 150 in 199 2/3 innings

More San Francisco Giants content from Sactown Sports
While there will still be plenty of movement throughout the remainder of the MLB offseason, the San Francisco Giants don’t have a much different look than they did at the end of the 2025 regular season.
The Giants have been linked to several free agents thus far, most notably the top starting pitcher on the market in Framber Valdez, but they maintain a familiar look heading into the holidays.
As far as the lineup goes, San Francisco could also use a second baseman and right fielder. If the Giants opt to stand pat and refrain from adding position players in free agency, Casey Schmitt and Luis Matos will enter Spring Training with a leg up at those positions, respectively.
Having Rafael Devers in uniform for a full season will help, but it’s hard to envision team president Buster Posey rolling out the same lineup and expecting better results after a 2025 season that saw San Francisco finish 81-81, missing the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.
The Giants are currently slotted at 12th on the MLB salary cap tracker sheet for the 2026 season at $169 million. How much flexibility will Posey have to upgrade this roster before Opening Day in March?
