*PREDICTION*
The Texas Rangers are currently on the outside looking in within their own division. They just watched the Seattle Mariners narrowly miss out on the World Series, and you can never count out the Houston Astros, given their recent accomplishments.
Don’t forget about the Athletics, who have found two young superstars in the making with Nick Kurtz and Jacob Wilson.
The Rangers have been trying to figure out the formula to make it back to the playoffs after winning the World Series just two years ago. Their 2023 playoff run, from the Wild Card to the World Series, was magical; however, it has since been frustrating. Finishing the past two seasons with a 78-84 record and an 81-81 record, respectively.
The Rangers must continue to add to their roster. They will need to fortify the bullpen and, most importantly, add an elite veteran bat. The Rangers have one in shortstop Corey Seager and a young star in Wyatt Langford.
In today’s baseball era, you need a whole lineup of elite hitters. If the Rangers want to make it to the playoffs, they must sign Alex Bregman.

Alex Bregman To Sign with Texas Rangers
Alex Bregman spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Houston Astros. In Houston, he was a two-time All-Star, a gold glove and silver slugger winner, and finished in MVP voting five times.
Bregman was a part of both World Series champions in Houston and was a key reason why they won.
Bregman signed a three-year deal worth $120 million back in February with the Boston Red Sox, including a player option after the first year.
Bregman exercised his option after just one season in Boston, having a stellar year, to reopen negotiations with any team. He never ruled out a return to Boston, but Bregman just wants to be paid what he is worth and get a deal for multiple years.
Bregman will turn 32 at the start of the 2026 season and will be past the peak years of his prime. It is understandable why he would want to capitalize on his recent success financially.
The Texas Rangers need to make the move before someone else does. The Rangers have a mix of a solid core of young, talented hitters and players entering their mid-30s. They should look for an upgrade at third base or designated hitter with Bregman.
Potential Alex Bregman Contract
Alex Bregman opted out of a $40 million annual average salary contract to search for a long-term deal that will bring him more money in total, as it is unlikely he signs a deal of that magnitude.
Already this offseason, Kyle Schwarber signed a five-year, $150 million contract, and Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million deal. Bregman projects a similar deal to Alonso’s.
Spotrac.com has Alex Bregman’s market value at four years $112.1 million. Putting him at an annual average salary of $28 million. With Bregman opting out of his previous three-year, $120 million deal, expect this next deal to be less in annual value and a much longer term.
Expect anywhere from a five-to-six-year deal for around $150-180 million. Purring him near the $30 million value Alonso and Schwarber received.Â
The Rangers can easily afford this deal and need to get it done. Winter meetings are over, and the free agency dominoes are starting to fall. The Rangers can become contenders in the AL West by signing Alex Bregman.
They have already won one World Series with the core they have. To win another, they need a little help, and that help is Alex Bregman.
