Royals opening game at Atlanta pushed back a day

  • December 17, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Royals fans will have to wait one day longer for the 2026 campaign to get underway.

The team announced Monday that the Opening Day game against the Kansas City Royals will now take place Friday, March 27. It was originally scheduled for Thursday, March 26.

The game is set to start at 7:15 p.m. ET.

The move takes away an off day between the first and second games of the opening series.

The Royals return to Kansas City to take on Minnesota for the home opener at Kauffman Stadium on March 30.

The Kansas City Royals made another move over the weekend to add help in the outfield and relief pitching departments.

Kansas City announced Sunday that left-handed reliever Angel Zerpa was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for outfielder Isaac Collins and right-handed pitcher Nick Mears.
