Good morning, Mets fans!

It was reported Monday by The Athletic’s Will Sammon that the Mets are open to moving infielders Ronny Mauricio, Luisangel Acuña, and Mark Vientos. Jorge Castillo of ESPN then confirmed the report on Tuesday, stating that “the Mets … have informed teams that both players [Jeff McNeil and Vientos] are available in trades.” Earlier this offseason, Carlos Mendoza all but confirmed that Brett Baty would be his starting third baseman on Opening Day 2025.

Castillo also shared some insight on Edwin Díaz’s free agency:

DĂaz received multi-year offers from the Dodgers and Braves but initially waited for the Mets, despite frustration over the team signing Devin Williams without notifying him. New York eventually presented a three-year, $66 million offer with $21 million deferred over 10 years and later added a $9 million signing bonus. DĂaz sought a higher annual value after deferrals and less deferred money over a shorter period. When the Mets and Braves declined to meet those terms, the Dodgers improved their proposal, and DĂaz accepted a three-year, $69 million deal that included reduced deferrals and a conditional option.

Chris Martin has agreed to a one-year deal with the Rangers, according to Jeff Passan. Martin fought injuries in the second half of 2025 but was otherwise superb, and he finished the season with a 2.98 ERA in 49 appearances.
