The Mets are trying to rebuild the Yankees’ 2025 bullpen.
The Post’s Joel Sherman reported that the Amazin’s are finalizing a two-year, $22 million deal for Luke Weaver.
Weaver was a revelation for the Yankees in 2024, taking over as the closer in September and impressing in October during the run to the World Series.
The Yankees acquired Devin Williams last offseason and moved Weaver back to a setup role.

The 32-year-old had a disappointing regular season and dealt with injuries, going 4-4 with a 3.62 ERA after tallying a 2.89 mark the previous year.
Weaver, though, was awful in the postseason, where he allowed five runs over three appearances against the Red Sox and Blue Jays in which he only recorded one out for a 135.00 ERA.
Sherman reported that the Yankees were not part of the bidding process for Weaver, who went 12-8 with a 3.22 ERA across 129 games spanning the 2023-25 season.
Now, Weaver and Williams are teammates again.
The Mets previously signed Williams to a three-year, $51 million deal this offseason and he is the favorite to be the closer with Edwin Diaz bolting Queens for the Dodgers.
The Mets also have Clay Holmes, who closed for the start of the 2024 season for the Yankees before Weaver took over, in their rotation.

Williams and Weaver will be part of a revamped bullpen with trade acquisition Tyler Rogers leaving the Mets in free agency for the Blue Jays.
It had all been part of a surprising offseason that has seen the Mets trade Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers for Marcus Semien and let Pete Alonso leave in free agency to the Orioles.
