The Philadelphia Phillies are enjoying a very successful series against the Colorado Rockies, with the offense on fire through the first three games of the series. One of the hitters that’s doing the best is shortstop Trea Turner.
After the third game of the Rockies series, Turner was asked the reason behind his recent offensive hot streak. In an interview on NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Instagram, Turner revealed what went into his recent power surge.

“Yeah, made a little adjustment the first day here [Colorado], and working in the training room.” Turner Said. “Just, I think I got hit by that pitch earlier in the season… but I think that kind of created a little bit of bad habits for driving the ball. But [the] last few days it’s been better about getting the ball in the air and hitting the gaps and whatnot.”
In the series against the Rockies, Turner has 7 hits in 15 at-bats, with 4 runs, 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run to go with 3 RBI. His OPS is at 1.400, and he’s slugging .933 through the first three games of the series.
Turner’s offensive resurgence hasn’t been just a recent thing. In May, Turner has a .341 batting average with a .862 OPS. While Turner had been getting hits, the majority were singles. But since he’s now a month removed from getting hit by a pitch, his power has returned to his bat.

When asked why the hit-by-pitch limited him, Turner answered, “Just physically can’t do the things I want to do.”

Now that he’s recovered from the aftereffects of the hit-by-pitch, his power has come roaring back. But the hit-by-pitch wasn’t the only reason for his recent offensive success.
When asked if he changes his mechanics, Turner said, “A little bit. It’s small changes for me. It’s nice when I try to do something a little different, and then it kind of clicks in, feels good.”
With his offensive surge in Colorado, the mechanics change is working.
Turner isn’t the only hitter finding his groove in Colorado. Bryce Harper is also slugging the ball against the Rockies, with a .500 batting average and a 1.324 OPS in the series.

In 2025, Turner has been a key piece of the Phillies’ offense. In 195 at-bats, Turner has 60 hits, 33 runs, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, and 18 RBI. His batting average is at .308, and his OPS is at .781.
The return of Turner’s power has added another dynamic to the Phillies’ lineup. With his change of mechanics and recovery from the hit-by-pitch earlier in the year, Turner has rekindled his power.
