Jhostynxon Garcia, known by his nickname “The Password,” bid farewell to the Red Sox and the city of Boston with an Instagram post.
“Thank you to the Boston Red Sox organization and the fans for believing in me since I was a kid from Venezuela chasing a dream,” he captioned the post. “Your support helped shape the player and the man I am today, and I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to wear that uniform.”
The Red Sox traded Garcia and 18-year-old right-handed prospect Jesus Travieso to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Johan Oviedo and two prospects.
Garcia made his MLB debut late in the 2025 season when Wilyer Abreu went on the injured list. Prior to his call up, Garcia was hitting .303/.367/.564 with the Worcester Red Sox with 17 home runs.
The Password played in five games for Boston and had a double and two walks.
