PRESTONSBURG — Floyd Central scored eight runs over its last two at-bats on the way to defeating Prestonsburg 11-2 in the semifinals of the 58th District Softball Tournament on Monday, May 19.

The loss eliminated Prestonsburg from the 58th District Softball Tournament.

Whitley Hall pitched a complete game for Floyd Central and earned the win in the circle. Hall recorded six strikeouts.

Addison Wright pitched four and one-third innings for Prestonsburg and suffered the loss in the circle. Wright recorded three strikeouts.

In addition to Wright, Kaylee Hackworth and Candace Allen pitched for the Lady Blackcats.

Floyd Central excelled offensively. Players throughout Floyd Central’s lineup made an impact at the plate. Hall (two hits, two RBIs), Brooklyn Lewis (four hits, one RBI), Reagan Laferty (two hits, two RBIs), Mia Queen-Gilliam (two hits, one RBI), Cadyn Roberson (two hits, one RBI), Aubree Shelton (one hit, one RBI) Delilah Rodriguez (one hit) and Alaina Morris (one hit) each contributed offensively for the Lady Jaguars. Providing a lift at the plate for Floyd Central, Laferty homered. Lewis, another productive batter for Floyd Central, doubled.

Allen (two hits), Rachael Roberts (two hits, one RBI), Amelia Newsome (two hits), Alivia Williams (one hit) and Whitney Howard (one hit) each produced at the plate for Prestonsburg during the district tournament game. Williams doubled while Howard tripled.

Floyd Central (16-10) advanced to meet reigning champion Lawrence County (20-7) in the 58th District Softball Tournament title game.
