The Minnesota Twins are looking to make their next move of the offseason. While fans would surely love it if they signed or traded for a superstar, the Twins could give their bullpen a crucial boost by adding another reliever or two. One pitcher who could help the ball club in a crucial manner is Taylor Rogers.

Taylor Rogers (not to be confused with his twin brother Tyler who recently signed with the Toronto Blue Jays) is a 35-year old veteran who spent 2025 with the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. It was two completely different stories for him during the ’25 campaign, as he recorded a sparkling 2.45 ERA across 40 games with Cincinnati before pitching to a disastrous 5.09 ERA in his 17 games in Chicago.

Nevertheless, Rogers has a proven track record and could provide the Twins’ bullpen with a boost.

While Rogers’ performance with the Cubs was far from ideal, he displayed some encouraging signs. His 25.3 strikeout percentage was an increase from the 23.3 mark he turned in with the Reds. He also lowered his walk rate from 13 percent to 5.3 percent.

However, Rogers struggled to limit hard contact. In fact, the 54.9 hard-hit percentage he surrendered in his 17.2 innings pitched with the Cubs was a career-high by a significant margin. His next highest mark is 45.8, which he finished with during his rookie season back in 2016. For his career, Rogers holds a career 39.4 hard-hit percentage against percentage.

In other words, his struggles during his limited time in Cincinnati may have been an outlier. Perhaps he simply threw too many strikes. As long as Rogers mixes things up and works out of the zone in an effort to get hitters to chase more, he should be fine.

Minnesota’s bullpen is full of inexperienced arms. Justin Topa and Cole Sands are among the few Twins relievers with multiple years of big league experience. A veteran reliever is exactly what the Twins need.

Even if Rogers struggles in 2026, his veteran prowess would be enough to make an impact. Of course, in a perfect world he will find success. Either way, signing Rogers is a decision Minnesota should make. They won’t need to spend a lot of money to sign him and he could prove to be a difference-maker out of the bullpen during the ’26 season.
