MUSKEGON – In a single game at Marsh Field, Hart came out on top over Ludington 4-2 behind excellent pitching April 25.
Ty Schlukebir had 5 and 2-3rds innings of work on the mound, giving up a run on three hits and striking out 12 and was the winning pitcher.
Aiden Cull then came in relief in the sixth inning to close out the game, going 1 and 1-3rds innings, giving up one run on one hit, but got two strikeouts to get the save.
In the top of the third inning, the Pirates got on the scoreboard first when Brandon Mould got a leadoff single, then Aiden Coker made it to first on a fielder’s choice to get Mould out.
Then with two outs, Schlukebir got a hit to right field and was able to score Coker, who was running on the pitch.
Ludington then tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 1-1 and it remained that way until the top of the sixth, when the Pirates had two outs, Brendan Hiddema got a single, Logan Jorissen also got a single, which they were able to take advantage of when Kyle Greiner also got a single to drive in one run.
Joseph Osorio grounded to second base but reached first on an error, enabling the Pirates to score another run.
At the top of the seventh, Hart got singles from Schlukebir and Avery Guikema, and Schlukebir stole second base, and Guikema brought him home with the Pirates final run.
After a threat by Ludington in the bottom of the seventh brought in a run, the Pirates pitchers shut Ludington down to end the game.
Pirates Head Coach David Riley lauded Halen Boos work behind home plate, where he threw out a Ludington baserunner.
