Giannis Antetokounmpo again addresses rumors of future with Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo again talks about rumors about his contentment and future with the Milwaukee Bucks on Dec. 18, 2025.
The sports-network soap opera for regional sports networks took a twist over the weekend with a report by Tom Friend of the Sports Business Journal that the Main Street Sports Group would be forced to close if it can’t close a sale by January, with a potential impact for Milwaukee Bucks and Milwaukee Brewers broadcasts.
Main Street has gone by many names, most recently Diamond Sports Group, and it oversees the FanDuel Sports Network brand that broadcasts Bucks and Brewers games. The report indicates that the much-maligned sports broadcaster missed a December payment to one of its teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, and that without a last-ditch sale to DAZN, the Main Street business would dissolve.
That means broadcast rights to 30 franchises across three major sports – the Bucks and Brewers included – would suddenly be up for grabs. Friend notes that Main Street remains in active discussions with all organizations and the Cardinals haven’t terminated their rights agreement.
The company emerged from Chapter 11 banruptcy a year ago and still had rights to most teams it covered, including both Milwaukee franchises.
Friend characterized the Main Street-DAZN discussions as “in limbo because Main Street has not been able to meet all of DAZN’s conditions.” He also wrote that NBA teams are at least considering a worst-case scenario where they’d need to find a local broadcaster midway through the season. The NBA would likely step in at that point, at least offering the broadcasts on League Pass and the NBA app.
The situation would be less urgent for the Brewers and other MLB teams who should have clarity by the time broadcasts begin in March. Major League Baseball has been eager to reclaim streaming rights for its teams, and the Brewers initially indicated that they’d operate under an MLB-run operation for the 2025 season before switching gears and re-upping with FanDuel.
