*This is a prediction*
The Philadelphia Phillies might be in search of a new catcher. It seemed as if though they were going to be able to re-sign JT Realmuto, but that is now seeming doubtful as MLB free agency continues.
As the Phillies and Realmuto remain in a standoff, the Phillies will need to start searching for a catching solution elsewhere in case Realmuto signs with a different team.
A way in which Philadelphia can do so is by getting a trade done with the Baltimore Orioles for Adley Rutschman.

Baltimore Orioles Trade Adley Rutschman to the Philadelphia Phillies
Adley Rutschman became a player floated around in trade discussions last season as the Baltimore Orioles brought their top prospect in Samuel Basallo into the fold. With Rutschman having struggled a bit over the last few seasons, it would make sense for Baltimore to hand the job over to Basallo and trade Rutschman for assets to advance the team in other ways.
With Adley Rutschman, he is coming off a 2025 season in which he had just a .220/.307/.366 slash line with nine home runs and 29 runs batted in. This was a decline from the 19 home runs, 79 runs batted in, and .250/.318/.391 slash line he had in 2024. Still, Rutschman is just four years into his MLB career and is still just 27 years old, it can be expected that he can still turn his career back around from an offensive standpoint and get back on track.
If this ends up being the case, pairing his offensive impact he would bring along with his ability behind the plate as a catcher, would be exactly what the Phillies need to provide a boost there on their roster in 2026.
