Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper will be representing the United States in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Harper announced his plan to join Team USA in a Tuesday morning post on Instagram.
“Put the colors on my chest for the 1st time when I was 15. No other feeling like it,” Harper wrote. “I’m excited to announce I will be representing Team USA this year in the WBC.”
Harper is set to join Bobby Witt Jr., Gunnar Henderson and Brice Turang in the Team USA infield.
Here’s a look at the current Team USA roster.
Catchers:Â Cal Raleigh, Will Smith
Infielders:Â Bobby Witt Jr., Gunnar Henderson, Brice Turang, Bryce Harper
Outfielders:Â Aaron Judge, Corbin Carroll, Pete Crow-Armstrong
Designated Hitter:Â Kyle Schwarber
Starting Pitchers:Â Paul Skenes, Tarik Skubal, Joe Ryan, Logan Webb, Matthew Boyd, Clay Holmes, Nolan McLean
Relief Pitchers:Â Mason Miller, David Bednar, Griffin Jax, Garrett Whitlock, Garrett Cleavinger
Harper previously represented the United States on the international stage in 2008 and 2009, when he won gold medals with the 16U team at the Double-A championships and the 18U team at the Triple-A championships, respectively.
The 33-year-old is currently coming off a 2025 season during which he slashed .261/.357/.487 with 32 doubles, 27 home runs and 75 RBI in 132 games.
He’ll now bring his hitting to a batting order already featuring multiple other big hitters in Cal Raleigh, Kyle Schwarber and Aaron Judge, the three of whom ranked among the top four home-run hitters in MLB last season.
Those hitters in front of a rotation led by the two reigning Cy Young Award winners in Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes will make Team USA a favorite to make it all the way to the WBC championship game on March 17 at Miami’s loanDepot park.
Team USA is set to start out the tournament this March with a group stage in Houston, where the Americans will be taking on Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil from March 6 to 11.
The United States needs to rank as one of the top two teams in that pool in order to advance to the quarterfinals in Houston.
The most stacked team on the other side of the bracket could come from Japan, who reigning World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto and his Los Angeles Dodgers teammate Shohei Ohtani have each expressed interest in representing on the WBC stage.
Team USA will find out more about who they’ll be taking on this March by the time WBC rosters are finalized in early February.
