The Los Angeles Dodgers have been at the center of attention this offseason, having signed the best closer in MLB after winning their second World Series in a row.

With many fans complaining about the Dodgers success and calling for regulations or restrictions on the biggest team in baseball, former MLB general manager Jim Bowden provided another option: Switch allegiances.

There are plenty of teams fans could change to to enjoy success in MLB. The Yankees seem to be in the mix every year, the Dodgers are the most dominant team in baseball and the Astros made the postseason eight years in a row before missing out in 2025.

“You don’t have to be a Pirate fan,” Bowden said. “You can retire as a Pirate fan, or trade yourself to the Dodgers.

“If you want to see your team win, right now the Dodgers have got the best chance to win a World Series again. As a fan, you can root for any team you want.

“You don’t have to root for the team in your home city. You can see the Dodgers play in your home city. They’ll come into Pittsburgh and beat you.

“If it bothers you that much, just become a Dodger fan. It’s fine.”

The Pirates aren’t the only team in a difficult situation, though. The A’s refuse to spend and moved away from the stadium they’d been in for nearly 60 years, the Rockies have lost 100 or more games in each of the last three seasons and the Angels haven’t had a winning season since 2015.

That being said, though, Dodger fans felt the same pain as many of these teams just over a decade ago. They stayed loyal, and are now being rewarded for their perseverance.

It’s easy to leave when times get hard, especially when a team’s ownership starves the franchise of any meaningful baseball, but remaining with a team through the hard times makes success even sweeter.
