The Los Angeles Dodgers have flexed their muscles during free agency over the past several seasons, and 2025 isn’t any different.
The Dodgers brought back Miguel Rojas on a one-year deal in their first free agency move of the offseason, and gave closing pitcher Edwin Diaz a three-year, $69 million deal just a couple of days later.
The Athletic’s Chad Jennings listed the Dodgers as a team which is aggressively adding during the 2025 offseason.
“[The Dodgers] haven’t done a lot this winter, but they also didn’t lose a lot to free agency (and much of what they did lose could be addition by subtraction),” Jennings wrote. “Despite having their championship roster largely intact, they’ve signed Edwin Díaz to the largest relief pitcher salary in history, continuing their recent history of aggressive — and expensive — offseasons.”

As far as the Dodgers’ departures go, their biggest loss is Clayton Kershaw, who retired after 18 seasons in MLB. Other than the future Hall of Famer, the Dodgers lost Michael Conforto, Kirby Yates and Michael Kopech to free agency — none of whom made much of a difference in 2025.
Rojas has already returned from free agency, and Kiké Hernandez could still very well return later in the offseason.
While Diaz is the only new addition for the Dodgers so far this offseason, his presence as one of the best high-leverage relievers in MLB provides a huge boost for the Dodgers’ bullpen, which struggled towards the back end of last season.

The Dodgers may not be done just yet, either. They still have a need for a left fielder after Conforto’s departure, and will need to look into their vacancy if they want to remain at the top of the baseball world. They still have plenty of time to do so, and with several of the biggest names on the free agency and trade markets still up for grabs, the Dodgers could shake up the league once again.
