ST. LOUIS—The St. Louis Cardinals are exploring alternatives for local media distribution while working with FanDuel Sports Network, stakeholders and Major League Baseball.
FanDuel Sports Networks’ parent company, Main Street Sports Group missed a December payment to the Birds on the Bat while it tries to sell the company to DAZN, per Sports Business Journal (SBJ).
“We remain committed to ensuring that Cardinals games continue to be available to fans throughout our broadcast territory on cable and through direct-to-consumer streaming options in 2026,” said a spokesperson for the St. Louis Cardinals in a statement to Spectrum News.
If the Main Street sale to DAZN falls through, SBJ says DAZN plans to dissolve after the National Basketball Association and National Hockey League seasons. This would mean the 30 franchises in agreement with Main Street would regain their broadcast rights as their contracts would be void.
If the sale proceeds, certain team partners of Main Street, who’ve not terminated their agreements, would continue with the FanDuel Sports Network under its new ownership-to-be.
