The Pittsburgh Pirates’ lineup is going to have some new faces next year, starting with Brandon Lowe. He projects to be a middle-of-the-order bat for the Pirates after they acquired him from the Tampa Bay Rays in a three-team trade last week.
Lowe won’t be the only new face, however. Jhostynxon Garcia and Jake Mangum could also play big roles for Pittsburgh after coming over in trades. MLB’s No. 1 prospect, Konnor Griffin, also has the potential to be the Pirates’ Opening Day shortstop, and thus Lowe’s double play partner.
On Monday’s episode of “Foul Territory,” Lowe discussed the possibility of playing with Griffin in 2026.
“I’m excited to see exactly what it looks like in person and on the field.”

“I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about who he is as a player and as an athlete. It’s pretty exciting stuff,” Lowe said. “I’m excited to see exactly what it looks like in person and on the field.”

A two-time All-Star, Lowe also said he’s willing to do whatever he can to help guide and mentor Griffin, who’s only 19 years old. He doesn’t expect Griffin will need many tips on the field, but he’s ready to answer any questions and help him transition to the Major Leagues.
At 31, Lowe has eight years of MLB experience under his belt. He’s also used to playing with young stars with the Rays, where he was surrounded by the likes of Junior Caminero, Isaac Paredes and Wander Franco, so he’s familiar with being a clubhouse leader.
