The Atlanta Braves missed the postseason this year and dealt with many key injuries. While they will get some key players back, they may also lose some veterans.
This offseason, the Braves have signed Raisel Iglesias, Robert Suárez, Mike Yastrzemski and Ha-Seong Kim. They are expected to have most of their star players back, but Marcell Ozuna may not be one of them. The 35-year-old slugger is a free agent, and FanSided’s Christopher Kline urged the Cleveland Guardians to sign him.
Ozuna is a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger. Last season, he had a .756 OPS and 21 home runs. He did not live up to the expectations he had set, given his performance in 2023 and 2024. However, he still posted an OPS+ above 100 and can be a valuable player for the Guardians.

The Guardians ranked 20th in home runs last season and could use some more power in their lineup. Ozuna would not command a long-term deal and could slot in as an everyday designated hitter. The Braves are not expected to bring him back, given the emergence of Drake Baldwin.
Baldwin was the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year and will need a spot in the lineup on a daily basis. The Braves also have Sean Murphy, however. The designated hitter spot figures to belong to one of those two on any given day. Keeping Ozuna would mean keeping either Baldwin or Murphy out of the lineup.
