Tyler Mahle

The Los Angeles Angels haven’t made the playoffs since 2014, and for them this offseason, they need to figure out a way to get back on track with being able to play in the postseason, especially with Mike Trout not getting any younger.

*Prediction*

The Angels need to figure out how to maximize Trout’s prime while possible still, and for that to be accomplished, they need to add more pitching this offseason. One cost-effective move they could look to make is signing Tyler Mahle.

Los Angeles Angels Sign Tyler Mahle in MLB Free Agency

Tyler Mahle has shown his potential over the last nine seasons, but one thing that has plagued him over his career so far has been his injury history. Yet, the potential has been showcased when he is healthy, and that is something a team can cling to when it comes to the decision on whether to sign him or not.

The Angels have a new pitching coach in Mike Maddux, who has familiarity with Tyler Mahle as they had both spent the last two seasons with the Texas Rangers. Mahle, over the last two seasons, has accumulated a 2.54 ERA with a 1.168 WHIP and 76 strikeouts. With Maddux having that familiarity with Mahle already, it can help in Los Angeles considering signing him.

No matter what, the Angels need pitching depth if they are going to take strides, and with Tyler Mahle, even with his injury history, he can provide depth to the Angels’ pitching rotation that they need. The upside is there, and with him coming off his best season, there is hope that he can continue to build on that success in 2026.
